Get Minted Challenge: Wang Chung Edition

Today we are thrilled to present Get Minted Challenge, an NFT contest designed to crowdsource creativity on a global scale. For this edition, the theme of the contest is the legendary New Wave band Wang Chung.

Wang Chung dominated the charts during the 80’s, with top ten hits including Dance Hall Days’ and ‘Everybody Have Fun Tonight’. They have been immortalized in TV shows including The Big Bang Theory, Breaking Bad, The Simpsons, South Park, Two and a Half Men and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. We could not be more excited to collaborate to launch both a Blind Boxes collection drop and an auction event in the coming weeks.

Get Minted Challenge: Wang Chung Edition

Blind Boxes invites creators to showcase fresh artwork, memes, 3D renders, video loops, VR assets or AR filters inspired by Wang Chung. By crowdsourcing creativity, we are actively engaging artists to design pieces and have them turned into NFTs.

Starting TODAY and continuing for14 days, artists can upload submissions on Twitter and Instagram by tagging @blindboxes_io and using the hashtag #wangchungNFT. Top entries will be upvoted by BLES token holders. Winners will have their work tokenized and sold during a special drop event. This drop will coincide with the Wang Chung auction-only event that we are co-hosting with an external auction platform (TBA).


Winners will be decided based on votes from the Blind Boxes community of BLES token holders. Voting will occur on-chain to ensure transparency and efficiency. To incentivize voting, a voting rewards pool of BLES will be announced.

This BLES rewards pool will be distributed to:

  • Creators of the artworks that receive the most votes (top 5)
  • Users that vote for the creators that are in the cohort of winners
  • Collectors that purchase NFTs from this special collection


To submit, upload images to Twitter / Instagram with the hashtag #wangchungNFT. Submissions will be collected and then displayed on the Blind Boxes dAPP in a special section devoted to the contest.


Users will have 5 days to vote on their favorite artworks. The top 5 pieces that receive the most votes will win the competition. Voting rewards in the form of $BLES will be distributed to the contest winners and to the users that voted for them.

Winning and Minting

The top 5 artworks will have their work minted into. Once minted, these NFTS will join the Get Minted: Wang Chung Edition Blind Box collection drop. The artists and the band will receive proceeds from sales of blind boxes from this collection. #BLESgetminted

  1. Create original art based on the theme: Wang Chung
  2. Post your artwork on Twitter and tag @blindboxes_io and @WangChungMusic #BLESgetminted #WangChungNFT
  3. Follow Blind Boxes and Wang Chung on Twitter
  4. Add your work to the #creators channel on the Blind Boxes Discord. Include your artist name and title of your work.
